It Really Works01/07/2024 ByMCali I helped to run our family's commercial snow plowing business and have been plowing for almost 30 years with nothing but Fisher plows. Last year I retired form the business and needed a spreader for my GMC Sierra 1500 to do my property and a buddy's parking lot. I am used to using a Hi-Way Super-P chassis mounted to my 1-Ton but for my personal use, I wanted something easy to use without a lot of wiring that I could easily take on and off my truck, so I purchased the Fisher QuickCaster 300W in late 2022. We only had one storm last winter and I made the mistake of trying to use salt from a local yard. It was wet and would not feed. Over the summer, I did some reading online and just as the instructions tell you, use dry, bagged, straight rock salt. So today we had our first snowstorm here in CT and I was pleasantly surprised at how well the 300W performed. Went through six bags of rock salt. It has a pretty good spread pattern and works like a charm. I am very happy with this purchase.
A great product brought one headache11/06/2023 ByKevin Kisting I was exasperated with the poor life cycle of a competing brand broadcast (salt) spreader that self destructed due to corrosion after only 5 years of use. After an extensive online search, I chose Fisher for it's superior design, better build quality and fewer moving parts. The dealer - Zequip of Toledo, Ohio - was solidly professional and provided STELLAR service from my original inquiry through to the point of sale including free shipping. I purchased the (optional) factory wiring harness to ensure installation compatibility but it proved to be a glaring headache. I incurred several hours of unnecessary frustration caused by a ridiculous omission in the operator manual until I discovered the reason the spreader would not operate. As a result, I'd simply like to ask the factory technician: "On what planet is a 12 Volt RED wire deemed negative?" Other than this, I'm fully pleased and eagerly await this winter's ice-attack on my driveway...With the FISHER QC 300W I believe I'm ready
Jury is still out11/06/2023 ByKevin Kisting I researched salt spreaders intensely after 5 winters use of a competing broadcast spreader that ultimately self-destructed from corrosion. The Fisher seems to have considerably better build quality, fewer moving parts, less exposure of its parts to corrosion, and simpler assembly and operation. All of these points are proven to me since my purchase from the dealer I selected...Zequip of Toledo OH. Their customer service from my original inquiry - to the point of sale and product delivery was STELLAR and a delightful experience!
The only negative I've experienced is the factory wire harness (advertised as 'plug and play') comes with 12V red wire Negative. That ridiculous error and the failure of the instruction manual to declare it prominently cost me several hours of unnecessary frustration. I'm eager to use this impressive product but can't help but want to ask the factory technical writer: "On what planet is a 12V red wire deemed negative?"
